Rachel Newman

For more than a decade, Rachel Newman has gained deep experience serving leading national healthcare, consumer and industrial brands in the areas of brand positioning, strategy and management, grassroots marketing, public affairs, media relations and content strategy.

At Edelman, Rachel currently leads work for Salix, a specialty pharmaceuticals company in the GI space.

Prior to joining Edelman, Rachel spent seven years on the Brand Strategy team at Davis Brand Capital, where she and developed brand positioning, content strategies and brand voice studies for healthcare companies, including GF Health Products, Inc., Elekta, and C.R. Bard, Inc. In addition, she provided counsel to consumer brands, including Anheuser-Busch, American Greetings and Progressive Insurance. Most recently, she helped develop and execute a global brand re-positioning for The Timken Company, a diversified industrial manufacturer.

Prior to joining Davis, she spent five years in the St. Louis headquarters of FleishmanHillard as a member of the Public Affairs practice. At FH, she developed and managed strategic communications for healthcare and consumer clients, including AstraZeneca, Organon, Express Scripts, Correctional Medical Systems, The Clorox Company, Del Monte and Dannon through grassroots marketing, media relations, and issues management. She also developed a 50-state legislative monitoring analysis system that was utilized by both healthcare and public affairs clients.

Prior to joining FH, Rachel worked as a legislative associate at Stateside Associates, a state government relations firm in Arlington, Va. She also served as a congressional aide in the U.S. House of Representatives, and as a legislative aide in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Rachel earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Communications and Gender Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
